Topher Bellavia, co-founder & instructor

Topher has trained hundreds of groups to work and play together better. He believes that the secret to good teamwork is positivity with an emphasis on listening, openness, and trust. He can’t teach people to be smart, creative or funny, but he can help people understand that they already are.
Topher graduated from Wesleyan University with an Honors Degree in Directing for the Theatre and American Government. In 1998, he moved to DC, where he co-founded Washington Improv Theater’s improv training program. He writes courses, mentors new instructors, and has coached more than a 1,000 improvisers. Some of his graduates have gone on to perform on the TBS shows Ground Floor and Fox’s Mulaney, as well as write for NBC’s Saturday Night Live.

"Topher's exercises really brought our goal of having a supportive, “yes and” work environment to life. We can't wait to have him back again.”

Allan Sidley, co-founder & instructor

Allan has consulted on software implementation projects as a developer, analyst, and project manager for big data. On a whim Allan took an improv class and picked it up with ease. He credits his improv skills with allowing him to adapt faster to the rapid changes in his work day and being able to communicate effectively with his internal teams as well as external clients.
An alum of Virginia Tech, Allan studied Business Information Technology and competed on the Men’s Rugby team. A natural competitor and teammate, Allan understands that to win, whether it's sports, improv, or business you must commit to your role.
A stand-up comedian in his spare time, Allan writes and performs his own material. He has gone 28 days without accidentally ingesting gluten.

“Allan brings such a warm and generous energy to his coaching. He’s great at making you see your potential and pushing you to the next level.”
